<p>Well, author Frank Rumbauskas is the man I&#8217;d like to introduce you to. Three years ago he went from being a typical salesman stuck hammering out the usual corporate grunt work . . . to become a New York Times AND Amazon #1 Bestselling author with his book &#8220;Never Cold Call Again: Achieve Sales Greatness Without Cold Calling.&#8221;</p>
<p>Now finally, he has released his follow-up to that killer Bestseller with the brand new &#8220;<a title="online marketing playbook for $13!" href="http://tribalseduction.com/ncca.php" target="_blank">Never Cold Call Again Online Playbook</a>.&#8221; Even though it&#8217;s $13, to just call it a &#8220;book&#8221; is kind of a disservice though. It&#8217;s more like an Internet Marketing course I&#8217;ve seen other Internet Marketing &#8220;gurus&#8221; charge $2,000 for at events.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the reason I felt compelled to write this book review.</p>
<h2>First a little more about me, Frank &amp; our common mission against &#8220;the evil ones&#8221; . . .</h2>

I met him on a cruise several years ago, and I have spent many hours drinking good wine and smoking awesome cigars with him.</p>
<p>One of the big reasons Frank and I have spent the time together we have is because we share the same opinions about many things. One of them being the shame that some Internet Marketing hucksters have brought upon the words &#8220;selling&#8221; and &#8220;marketing.&#8221;</p>

<p>Dangerous stuff! Downright evil when you consider most of those &#8220;experts&#8221; still hold down full time jobs while spreading their &#8220;advice&#8221; on successful marketing.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">FACT</span>:</strong> connection without conversion is useless! It&#8217;s true in business AND in your personal life. (Ever go on a date without one person saying &#8220;yes&#8221;? And no one in business makes a dime off connections, it&#8217;s &#8220;yes&#8221; that makes you money.)</p>
<p>The fact is that our world would be the Dark Ages without the commerce created in the free market by entrepreneurs, marketers and sales professionals.</p>
<p>The reason I mention this is that far too many entrepreneurs have neutered themselves when it comes to marketing and selling. This is especially true online.</p>
<p>When you combine this with the fact that many business people have been fed a load of crap by supposed &#8220;marketing gurus&#8221; selling success while still living in an apartment or working 100+ hours per week, you have a recipe for failure. No wonder why so many people trying to market online stumble, fail and give up.</p>

Selecting keywords does not have to be a mysterious or complicated process. In fact, the entire process can be narrowed down to three steps:

But knowing how to select good keywords is only half the battle. Knowing how and when to use them in a blog post, on Twitter, or in any New Media channel is critical to your ability to turn keywords into cash.

<p>With blogs, online video and other New Media Channels though, keyword mastery (and ranking in Search Engine Results) came within reach of people like you and me.</p>
<p>You didn’t have to wait for your web master to update your meta tags or build a web page for you.  You could just create a keyword rich headline, sprinkle some killer keywords in key area of a blog post and optimize the permalink URL and hit publish and voila &#8211; you’ve created your own keyword rich blog content all without the help of an SEO specialist.</p>

They are being lured into seductive social media communities, wooed by and caught up in the passion of these interactive environments. They without the right strategy, they invest hours of their time forgetting that <em>the only tangible benefit (their database of friends or followers) is controlled by a 3rd party who can change the rules of the game at any time.</em></p>
<p>A perfect example is how most users of Twitter have had <strong>a rude awakening</strong> over the last 48-hours or so. They awoke yesterday to find their “following” and “followers” lists slashed in half… or more! <strong>Hundreds and even thousands of contacts gone! POOF!</strong></p>

<h3>Poor excuse, but who&#8217;s to blame?</h3>
<p>Twitter’s “spam” excuse is a poor one. I and several other people I know on Twitter personally visit the page of each new Follower as new requests come in. So to see several hundred followers disappear and have Twitter say they “spammers” is clearly BS. </p>
<p>That’s to be expected and nothing to get upset about. It&#8217; a danger you should expect. <em>Twitter can do and say anything they want. And so can any other Social Network</em>. Any of them can change the rules of the game whenever they want. They can arbitrarily put caps on the number of followers or friends you can have. Even delete people from your list at their whim. </p>
<p>See, <strong>the problem is not with Twitter, Facebook, or any other “free” Social Networking channel</strong>. The blame rests with you if you leave it to these services to have control over your contact list. Harsh, but true.</p>
<p>Some people learn the hard way that <strong>Social Networks are merely communication channels, not storage facilities</strong>. <em>Let’s help you avoid any hard lessons in the future</em>.</p>

<p>Tracking visitor movement on your site, especially your home and sales pages, is essential for optimizing your profits. It&#8217;s true whether you have a regular blog or a <a href="http://www.BLOGi360.com"  class="alinks_links" onclick="return alinks_click(this);" title="New Media Marketing system"  style="padding-right: 13px; background: url(http://tribalseduction.com/blog/wp-content/plugins/alinks/images/external.png) center right no-repeat;" rel="external">BLOG i360</a> New Media Marketing site.</p>
<p>Up till now a lot of the on-site tracking solutions out there have been cumbersome at best. (Downright useless in their eye-blurrying complexity at their worst.) <img src='http://tribalseduction.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Crazy Egg is a simple solution for optimizing your site and your marketing, New Media or otherwise.</p>
<p>We’ve been testing Crazy Egg on several of our sites blogs and the results have been very helpful. I&#8217;m going to share some examples from a 14-day test we ran on the 1st page of the BLOGi360 sign up process so you can see how much insight you can gain from this tool.</p>
<h3>Let&#8217;s take a look at some things Crazy Egg can do for you&#8230;</h3>
<p>Once you&#8217;ve setup a page tracking campaign and start playing Big Brother, you&#8217;ll have several ways to slice-and-dice visitor actions. You can choose from different views that give you different info.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll start with Crazy Egg&#8217;s newest view called Confetti.</p>
<h3>Confetti view</h3>

<p>In the image above you see colored dots. Each one represents <span id="more-91"></span>a click. You have control over what data is displayed. You can display referrers, search terms, time-to-click and more.</p>
<p>Even more helpful in Confetti view is the ability to hover/click on each dot to see the full details for that click (and that visitor.) Where they came from, what browser they were using, what screen resolution they had, etc.</p>
<h3>Overlay view</h3>

<p>The overlay view in Crazy Egg is the easiest view to work with. Each &#8220;+&#8221; symbol you see expands to the initial view (as in the screen shot above) showing the number of clicks for that area of the page. Another click on the &#8220;more +&#8221; of the tab opens all the referrer info for that area of your page.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s clean, simple and will give even the newest marketer ideas on how to optimize their pages.</p>
<h3>Heatmap view </h3>

<p>Another cool view in Crazy Egg is the heatmap. In the example above I selected to view clicks on &#8220;other&#8221; areas. These are essentially non-clickable places where people tried clicking. This option is available in any view, but I&#8217;ve found it most helpful in the heatmap view.</p>
<p>Sometimes seeing where people try to click is just downright hilarious. <img src='http://tribalseduction.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> ) But in other instances &#8212; it can put money in your pocket.</p>
<p>For example, in the image above you can clearly see quite a few people tried clicking on the &#8220;ONE DOLLAR&#8221; coupon code. It is just regular copy reminding them again what was mentioned on the sales page about getting their first 30-days for one dollar. </p>
<p>We didn&#8217;t think that people might be coming directly to this page and were seeing that mention of the &#8220;ONE DOLLAR&#8221; coupon for the first time. So now, with what we learned from this heatmap, we&#8217;ll make those two words a link that opens a pop-over or AJAX hover window with a little more info on the <em>$1-for-first-30-days offer</em>.</p>
<p>Simple, but we&#8217;d never know that without Crazy Egg tracking things people try to click that are not clickable. <img src='http://tribalseduction.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<h3>List view</h3>

<p>Of course, you can chose to see data in a more traditional view too. This is the list view shown above. You can chose between identified page elements and unidentified ones. Pretty simple and straight forward here in this view.</p>

<p>The new tools help put the performance of a video into context over time. You can see where your Tribe is coming from and how well your message is connecting to your audience. And&#8230; a big plus &#8212; you&#8217;re now better able to get ideas on how to improve your videos and track how your improvements translate into attention.</p>
<p><strong>What YouTube now tracks for you</strong></p>
<p>To access your new stats, log into to your account then &#8220;<em>My account > Videos, Favorites, Playlists > About This Video</em>.&#8221; Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll see when you do.</p>

<p>Unlike the total viewership counts, all the detailed information will be available only to the user who uploaded the video. Some data will still be limited to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/partners" target="_blank">paid advertisers and partners</a>, including information on how many viewers make it through 25 percent, 50 percent or all of a video.</p>
<p><strong>Some ideas for New Media Marketers</strong></p>
<p>Sometimes when people hear the word analytics or tracking, they start to doze off. But that&#8217;s mostly because they&#8217;re not sure how to use the data at their fingertips. And that&#8217;s a shame because tracking your efforts and making improvements based on data (instead of feelings) is the key to making things more fun and profitable in any area of business.</p>
<p>Here are a few starter ideas on how to use YouTube&#8217;s new analytics to help with your New Media Marketing.</p>
<ul>
<li>If your niche is in extreme sports (or any sports for that matter,) you may find that your viewership peaks on Thursdays in the US. So you could release new clips then.</li>
<li>You may see that your viewership on your videos starts to dip or flatten out after three weeks. That  would let you know that you should release a new video at least every three weeks. And you can test a shorter frequency to see what that will do to increase viewership and hold those higher numbers for a longer time period.</li>
<li>If you&#8217;re an expert on investing and see that your videos are popular in Mexico and South America, you could test releasing your videos in both English and Spanish.</li>
</ul>

How do you make your higher quality videos available?</strong></p>
<p>Right now these high quality streams are only available on &#8220;certain videos,&#8221; as YouTube states on the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=ponKL3LTyr0" target="_blank">official YouTube blog</a>. It&#8217;s based on the source file you uploaded to YouTube.</p>
<p><strong>How do you watch higher quality videos? </strong></p>
<p>On your Account page you&#8217;re now able to choose &#8220;always show me higher quality when available.&#8221; To change your settings go to your Account Home Page >> Account >> Video Playback Quality.</p>
<p>YouTube suggests that you select &#8220;always show me&#8230;&#8221; only if you have a fast Internet connection, otherwise you might find that videos don&#8217;t play as quickly or smoothly as you&#8217;re used to. Higher quality videos also have a link right below the video player which will allow you to select between the normal or higher quality settings.</p>
<p>Like all videos on YouTube, higher-definition videos can&#8217;t be longer than 10 minutes in length. Max file sizes have been bumped up to 1 GB though.<br />

<p>Oh, and while we&#8217;re talking about YouTube &#8212; <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080317/ap_on_hi_te/china_youtube_blocked" target="_blank">China is blocking YouTube</a> after they posted videos showing the recent protests in Tibet.</p>
<p>Yeah!!! Communism shows it&#8217;s true colors again. Killing people, and then shutting down any media source that reveals it. At least they make it clear why red is their color.</p>
